NATIVE PLANT Species

BPG grows and plants many native local species of plants in suitable habitats. Here are a few of them, and more will be added to this page.

Angioganthus viridus (Green Kangaroo Paw)

Rhizomatous, perennial, herb, 0.05-0.85 m high. Fl. green/yellow-green, Aug to Oct. Sand, loam, clay. Winter-wet areas.

Regelia ciliata 

Erect shrub, (0.3-)0.8-2(-3) m high. Fl. pink-purple, Jan to Dec (mainly 11-2). White or grey sand. Winter-wet depressions.

Conostylis accculeata (Prickly Conostylis)   

Rhizomatous, perennial, grass-like or herb, 0.06-0.5(-0.6) m high. Fl. yellow, Aug to Nov. Sand, loam, clay, gravel, limestone, laterite. Winter-wet areas, swamp margins, drainage areas, ditches, sand dunes.

Melaleuca lateritia (robin redbreast bush)  

Erect shrub growing to about 2.5 m high, to 3 m wide. The flowers are bright-orange red, in spikes to 80 mm long and 60 mm.  Flowering occurs over an extended period from August to April. It grows in sandy soil in swampy areas.
