Ashfield Flats

The conservation area at Ashfield Flats is losing
its qualities because a drain through the middle has
changed water flows and vegetation. Birdlife is
regularly disturbed by dogs.

Rerouting the drain and making it a stream will provide
habitat for birds such as swans, improve the quality
of water reaching the river and prevent dogs reaching
the conservation area. It is also expected to reduce
the mosquito problem.

How you can help ....

We hope to plant 2008 trees in 2008.
Email if you can help!

We also need help in seeking out and writing grant
applications to various Federal, State and private agencies.

River Saving our river banks

Wave action from boat wash is undermining our foreshore,
trees are falling into the river and rushes that provide habitat
for fish are being destroyed. Unless we do something
there will be no shady trees along the Swan River and few
fish for recreational fishers.

Trials need to be done into different ways of protecting the
foreshore and boats need to travel at lower speeds to
minimise wash.

How you can help ....

Help us build and install trial treatments.
Grow rushes and trees at home - it's easy
Work with the Swan River Trust to report speeding boats

Bringing our floral heritage home

The use of introduced plants in our gardens means
we need to use fetiliser that often reaches our rivers
contributing to algal blooms. Scare water resources
are needed to maintain their beauty, our native animals
and birds don't get a balanced diet and we have to travel
to see our beautiful wildflowers.

How you can help ....

Help us plan and publicise a demonstration garden.
Help establish and run a 'best local plant garden competition'.
Plant local plants in your own garden.
Join in the proposed garden makeover fundraiser.
